Bas-relief of the American journalist and war correspondent Januarius Macgahan, of whom the world learned of the Batak battalion massacre in 1876, the events after the April Uprising and the Russo-Turkish War, opened the Alley of Nations in Sveti Vlas.
The bas-relief was initiated by the “Bulgarian Memory – Dinevi Brothers” Foundation, which funded many patriotic endeavors. Among them are the bas-reliefs of Vasil Levski, Hristo Botev, Admiral Horatio Nelson, Admiral Fyodor Oshakov, Hans Christian Andersen, Sandor Petyofi, Marshal Philippe de Odclock, Giuseppe Garibaldi.
