MARINA DINEVI FOR THE 14TH TIME WELCOME BULGARIA’S LEADING TV JOURNALISTS

The prestigious competition “Television Journalism Awards Saint Vlas” was held on 31.05- 02.06.2024

bTV journalist Svetoslav Ivanov received the grand award for TV journalism “St. Vlas”

The award ceremony took place for the 14th year in a row

Another remarkable achievement for bTV. The journalist and presenter of the landmark overview program “120 Minutes” Svetoslav Ivanov was announced as the winner of the 2024 “Sveti Vlas” Grand Prize for Television Journalism.

The award ceremony took place for the 14th year in a row. The winners were determined by a jury composed of chairman Assoc. Georgi Lozanov and members – Ivan Garelov, Koprinka Chervenkova, Stefan Dimitrov and Antoniy Georgiev.

Svetoslav Ivanov was not able to attend the award ceremony in person, but in a video link he thanked for the high award and addressed his colleagues with a warning that serious changes are coming in the world and the media field, which will further blur the boundaries of truth and lies.

“This year is particularly important for Europe and the media is particularly important for us. The media is a mirror of what is happening in our societies everywhere – not only in our region, but also for the most part in the European Union. We have similar challenges. We are going through times of great change, but what is important to keep within ourselves and this ocean of misinformation and division in our societies is precisely this role of guardians. This is not easy,” noted the journalist.

“Not only because of political chaos and divided societies, wars and polarization, a new technological war of change is on the horizon that will sweep through the way people consume information. This new wave will hit the media with terrifying force. You know, “Meta” has been trying to distance itself from the news content for more than a year, but there is still no recipe against the manipulation,” said Svetoslav Ivanov.

He paid attention to the digital space and the news in it.

“Furthermore, the models by which we searched for information in virtual space will undergo major changes. From clicking on links and comparing different sources, we are moving towards more and more mass summarization and washing of information, which will come in the form of ready-made answers, mixing foreign content written with different motives”, added the host of “120 minutes”.

According to him, this will make it increasingly difficult to distinguish truth from lies. Svetoslav Ivanov noted that this will create problems for content creators, regardless of scale – both for large media and for sites, because traffic to them will decrease significantly, and their content will be used by large language models.

On a global level, this will be a huge legal and financial case. This will be a topic that will concern us more and more, he pointed out.

Journalist Boyko Vassilev hosted the St. Vlas awards ceremony.

The jury also awarded two special awards – Poli Zlatareva BNT and Lyubomir Ognyanov – Nova News, Anastasia Dimitrova – host of the program “Prime Time” on Euro News Bulgaria received an incentive award.
